The RESTYLANE® family of products includes Restylane® and Perlane®. Both are dermal fillers that replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Restylane® and Perlane® are both composed of crystal-clear, biodegradable NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid) gel. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that exists naturally in the body, and its most important function is to carry and bind water. NASHA does not contain animal protein and does not require a skin test. Restylane® and Perlane® produce results that are instantaneous, lasting from 6 to 12 months, and both are gentle and safe to the skin. Since it was launched in 1996, Restylane® has undergone extensive histological and clinical studies with an increasing body of evidence relating to its ease of use, tolerability and effectiveness. Today, more than one million treatments have been successfully carried out worldwide. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® and Perlane®is made by the same biotechnical process.
