Restylane® and Perlane® are cosmetic dermal fillers that replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth.
What are Restylane® and Perlane® made of?
Restylane® is the first cosmetic dermal filler made of NASHA, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body. Perlane® is also made up of NASHA. The gel particle size in Perlane® is larger and is designed for deeper injection than Restylane®.
How are Restylane® products different than other fillers, such as Collagen?
Restylane® and Perlane® contain no animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction.
Are Restylane® and Perlane® safe?
Yes. Restylane® and Perlane® are both FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane® has been used by dermatologists and plastic surgeons worlwide. It is fully biocompatible, and allergy testing is not required. Of course, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should not use Restylane® products.

What are some common treatment reactions?
After your treatment you might have some redness or swelling. This will normally last less than seven days. Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear. |
