Overview Of Mini Face Lift Procedure

Everyone’s had it happen to him or her: You’re feeling fine, minding your own business, when a friend or co-worker remarks that you look “tired.” “Thanks,” you think as you check your reflection. They’re right, you decide, you do look tired. And you aren’t even tired.

Age, gravity, stress, worry. Our faces begin to sag after time. Often, we start to look older than we really are. At Dermatology Consultants, Dallas’ authority for all things skin, we can stop those “tired” comments in their tracks. They’ll soon be replaced by “you look great” comments.

A Mini Facelift (minilift) is a minimally invasive procedure designed to tighten and smooth the lower face. A small incision is made just in front of the ear. Excess skin in the lower face is removed and small sutures are placed. Frequently a chin, cheek and jowl liposuction is done at the same time, which removes the fat that can obstruct the improvement and causes some retraction (tightening) on its own. Both are done in the office under local anesthesia ensuring a very safe procedure.

This procedure avoids the bruising, swelling, and prolonged healing often seen with traditional full facelifts. There is generally little or no pain associated with the Mini Facelift, and many patients are able to return to work within 3 days.

Mini Face Lift / Minilift FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Will there be scarring?
Most incisions are made in natural skin creases or behind the hairline and closed with tiny sutures. Until healing is complete, any bruising or scarring may be camouflaged with standard make-up. Most scars fade over time and become barely noticeable.

How long do the results from this procedure last?
Procedures that reshape or correct an imbalance or deformity, such as nasal surgery or chin augmentation, offer permanent benefits. Procedures that focus on rejuvenation, such as eyelid surgery, forehead surgery, and facelifts, usually last between five and ten years.

How should I prepare for my surgery?
Your physician will provide you with specific guidelines about medications and diet. You may be advised to get plenty of rest and avoid aspirin or aspirin products for at least two weeks before surgery. There are also several other medications and herbal products that can cause bleeding and we will give you a list of those things to avoid as well. Also please refrain from tobacco use, since smoking causes constriction of the blood vessels, especially those in your face, and may interfere with the healing process.

“Thank you for making my lift a little easier. I came a long way, across half the country to an office I really knew nothing about. What I found was an office filled with kind, caring professionals who went the extra mile for my friend and I to make my “special event” as easy and comfortable as possible.

I knew Dr. Maris, as soon as I had spoken to you on the phone that I wanted you to do my surgery as you were so knowledgeable, down to earth, and put me at ease. Dr. Maris’ assistant, also, very supportive.”

To Dr. Maris and his staff, a huge thank you. BB
